Item Description
Original illustrated cardboard box contains 5.5" long by 5.25" tall tin litho toy w/built-in key. 1950s. Although called a "Fire Truck" on box, toy more closely resembles an eccentric car rather than a fire truck. Box shows moderate handling wear w/creasing and 1.5" tear at one corner. VG. Toy is superbly detailed and includes separate tin ladders on sides, character images covering vehicles body (mostly fireman themed) including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, one of the Three Little Pigs, Bambi, Pluto, Elmer Elephant. Separate tin hood ornament depicts one of Donald's Nephews. Bottom of back compartment features Mickey portrait w/"Mickey Fire Engine" text. Donald wears jacket w/"F.D." initials on sleeves and comes w/professional replacement removable rubber fire helmet. Donald is o/w depicted wearing cap resembling that worn by his Nephews, a possible production error which resulted in them adding the separate fire helmet. Toy works and travels around in an erratic fashion as Donald's head turns from side to side. Scattered tiny traces of wear mostly in the form of minor paint nicks. Remains totally bright and glossy. VF. Among the rarest Disney Line Mar toys and only the second we've offered in our 49 years (and the first w/its very rare box).
