Item Description
Huge 3.75x13.25" long silk ribbon. Unlisted in Sullivan/Fischer and Hake. Laurel wreaths encompass oval portraits of candidates w/red bandana of stars above. Several light horizontal creases w/the most notable being above and below the red square. Otherwise only minor age toning in top and bottom margin. VF. The bandana motif is a reference to Thurman who was so well known for sneezing into a red bandana that he had been given the nickname "The Knight Of The Red Bandana." His use of the bandana stemmed from his preference for snuff. The theme of the 'Red Bandana' was used widely during the 1888 campaign and though it can be found on several ribbon designs this is the largest and most unusual we have encountered in our 50 years. First we can recall. Rare.
