Item Description

7/8" without back paper or maker's name but with small copyright symbol below Mickey's feet. The first movie club began Jan. 11, 1930 at Fox Dome Theatre in Ocean Park, Calif. The club idea came from manager Harry Woodin who in Sept. 1929 received Walt Disney's endorsement of the concept. This design appears on the first membership application forms as well. What Woodin apparently did not do is obtain studio art from Walt. This early design was used briefly in 1930 on both the basic membership as well as the larger buttons issued to the children who served as club officers from Chief Mickey Mouse down to Courier. This design was soon replaced with studio issued art featuring the classic MM with pie-cut eye accents. Normal light oxidation on reverse. NM displaying mint. Scarce, especially in this high grade.
