Item Description
Brass hanger pin holds ribbon with grommet at bottom with narrow strand of original blue cord just barely still intact. Cord is not guaranteed to survive shipping intact, but the important part is the rarely seen hanger and ribbon which are Exc. even if the thin cord must be replaced at some point. We will secure medal so it should not move during transit. Medal comes in two varieties, this one by Robert Lovett and another by Charles Barber, without the month and day on the bottom of the reverse. Proof-like white metal with front picturing Bartholdi and main text "Presented July 4, 1884..." Reverse slogans and "Dedicated Oct. 28, 1886". Medal is essentially Mint. Quite scarce with the hanger present.
