Item Description
1.5x4.25" to 5x6.25". Post card features suffragette holding a waving banner reading "Votes For Women." Reverse has note in fountain pen likely written by Kansas WCTU President Lillian Mitchner who was a major contributor to Kansas Suffrage reading "Topeka Feb. 1- 1911 Bill For Constitutional Amendment Was Killed In The Committee I Am So Thankful. Lovingly Lillian- Everything Looks Hopeful." We believe this references the renewed push for Kansas suffrage that started in January 1911 and was later approved by the electorate on Nov. 5, 1912 making Kansas the eighth state nationally and first Midwestern state to approve women's voting rights. Handling wear and age toning consistent w/light use. Also included are a silk "Votes For Women" ribbon and a piece of "NY" New York star "Votes For Women" unused stationery. Both are NM.
