Item Description

Each c. early 1940s, the first 1.25" and second 1.75". Text on both is simply "Lone Ranger'" The first button was originally designed and produced in the 1930s and is usually seen with text related to a rodeo. The second button was created for a Gene Autry rodeo appearance and, in fact, the photo shows Autry himself seated on Champion. Apparently, in immediate need of a Lone Ranger button, some button company removed Autry's name and added a tiny black mask over his eyes to create this imitation Lone Ranger button. It seems audiences at both events were not duped by these as both are rare today, indicating poor sales at the time. Both NM displaying Mint.
