Item Description
26.5x39.5" thin paper poster advertising a campaign event "On Tuesday, October 6, 1896." Listed at left of McKinley portrait are: "Ten Oxen, Twenty Sheep, 500 Chickens, 20,000 Free Buns!" All of this food was "Free For All" and the travel by rail to the event is advertised as "Half Fare Rates." Besides the food, attendees were treated to "Five Brass Bands, Fireworks," and a "Bald Headed Glee Club!" Two repaired vertical tears along top edge affecting the "E" and "B" in "Republican" w/the second also affecting the second "B" in "Barbecue". Otherwise only a a tiny 1/8" paper chip on the right side along the extreme top edge and minor fading of the red text to an orange hue that remains attractive. VF. An imposing and spectacular campaign poster that is as impressive as the event it advertised. Professionally framed to museum quality standards in a rustic frame using Tru-Vue glass that blocks 95% of UV rays. Only the second example known to us.
