Item Description

Three-piece lithographed paper on wood train w/overall length of 36". R. Bliss Mfg. Co. 1895. Bliss is well-known for these type of toys. Locomotive has Bliss name on front cylinders, which contain piston rods connected to wheels that cause pistons to move in/out as engine is pushed along. Nicely detailed engine has engineer shown at throttle, boiler tank has all top pieces including lantern, bell, steam domes and smoke stack. Missing 2x2" triangular piece of surface wood on cabin side and front of boiler tank has deep 1.25" long notch to wood. "Golden Gate Special" coal car has replaced couplers and shows heavy and obvious wear to paper covering on front. "American Palace Car" is missing roof and has is missing .75x3" piece at one end.
