Item Description
1.25x1.5" gold luster metal case w/new leather band. Dial features caricature image of W.C. Fields w/"'Any Man Who Hates Dogs And Children Can't Be All Bad'" quote along w/his name. From a series of watches featuring mostly Ward characters made by Buren, a division of Hamilton Watch. ©1972 Jay Ward Prod. This rare variety features hand-painted dial. Only a few watches in the series were done this way (as noted on page 84 of Hy Brown's book "Comic Character Time Pieces"), this version's image is unique to this painted model whereas the standard Fields watch featured a totally different image, see item #1114. Works. Some scattered lt. aging to case, but still VF w/NM dial. All of the hand-painted dial watches are highly sought after.
