Item Description
5" dia. by 2" tall marble base has bronze statue w/overall height of 14". Statue depicts the sultry Jessica Rabbit from the 1988 live-action/animated feature film "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" By renowned sculptor Henry Alvarez (1944-2012) and produced by Wolf's Head Productions, Inc. in the 1990s. Alvares worked as a sculptor in the film industry, on films such as "Legend" and "The Thing" as well as others before working for Disney, creating bronze statues. Alvares' studio developed a proposed line of Disney bronzes, but most were never put into production or were offered to the public. This Jessica Rabbit statue had a proposed run of 100, but a much smaller number was actually produced, being sold at Disney Parks and had an issue price of around $1,500. Variations of black/white bases were produced as well as all bronze and painted bronze statues (as offered here). Base has metal plaque w/"Who Framed Roger Rabbit - 'Jessica' - 1988" text on one side w/another plaque w/Disney and Amblin copyrights and Wolf's Head name. Cobblestone base Jessica stands on has the artist's incised name and "4/100" edition number. Some scattered wear but still Exc. overall (line in base by copyright plaque is natural line in marble and not a crack) and among the nicest figural Jessica Rabbit pieces we've seen. Given their limited production run, these rarely come up for sale. Tom Tumbusch Collection/Tomart Archives.
