Item Description
Lot for original release of the 1951 film distributed by Lippert Pictures Inc. and starring George Reeves as Superman and Phyllis Coates as Lois Lane. The film is the first theatrical feature film based on the DC Comics character Superman (two live-action Superman film serials starring Kirk Alyn had already been shown in cinemas, though in a serial format). The film served as a trial run for the syndicated TV series "Adventures Of Superman." Offered here are two different pressbooks issued by Lippert for the film, one 8.5x11" w/six pages (counting covers) has loose page within as issued and features typical pressbook content including review/synopsis text and ad mats. Faint moisture staining at lower left, o/w Exc. Larger 11x14" folds out to 11x33" and features similar content as smaller pressbook. 3" split at top of one fold. VF. Comes w/nine different wood ad mat molds used to create lead castings for letterpress printing, most w/similar art/design as seen in pressbooks. Exc. Franco Toscanini Collection.
