Complete numbered set of six 4.5x7" postcards issued by "Esquire" magazine, ©1942 Esquire, Inc. Postcards come w/original envelope which shows heavy wear and just comes along. Postcards feature colorful and detailed graphics. Text on backs reads "Szyk Characters - Set #6 - Card #1-#6, Caricatured By Arthur Szyk Especially For Esquire, The Magazine For Men." Caricatures of numerous world leaders including Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Benito Mussolini, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, etc. Exc. "Struwwelhitler" is 5.5x7" parody of famous German children's book "Struwwelpeter." The original is a collection of stories by German author Herman Hoffman w/strong moral messages for children, here English writers have converted these stories using various Axis figures including Hitler, Mussolini, Goebbels, Göring and Rudolf Hess as the central figures in the stories. Published by Haycock Press, London, proceeds from the sale of the books went to an English war relief fund. Spine has applied piece of worn tape and cover shows some scattered aging wear w/1" spot of yellow coloring over remnant of original price sticker. Fine.
