Item Description
As rare and desirable as the Mickey Mouse Rosenthal figurines are, this is by far the rarest and most sought after Mickey Rosenthal item. Original pattern paper-covered cardboard box contains 16-piece, six-serving set, consisting of 3" tall teapot w/lid, 1.5" tall sugar w/lid and open creamer, six 1" tall teacups and six 2.75" dia. saucers. Every piece has "Rosenthal - Bavaria" mark on underside. c. 1932. Box lid has 7/8x3" area of staining at center left w/some scattered edge wear, but box retains its shape. Die-cut insert has small pencil notation and some small tears at edges of die-cut slot for saucers (w/crease at one). Box is still Fine overall. Classic Mickey images appear on every piece; two on the creamer, three on the sugar, cups (including one on cup interior) and saucers and seven on the teapot. There are a total of three different images, two depicting Mickey standing and expressive image of him walking and scratching his head. Each piece is beautifully detailed w/gold luster accents. Teapot lid has original foil label w/German text that translates to "Mickey Mouse Brings Luck To Your House." Label shows lt. aging but is complete. A few of the Mickey images of saucers show lt. wear, but o/w set it Exc. to NM. Extremely rare as boxed, this being the only boxed set we've offered in our 50 years.
