Item Description
Pair of 15" tall tightly stuffed cloth body dolls w/felt ears, cotton outfits and painted facial features. Part of the rare "Aesop's Fables Movie Dolls" series. Their Disney connection lies in the fact that Walt Disney took legal action against the Van Buren Corporation for plagiarizing Mickey Mouse by creating a look-alike character by the name of Milton Mouse. Offered here are Don Dog (w/stubby, stuffed cloth tail) and Waffles the Cat (w/long, cloth-covered wire tail). Both are c. 1931. Waffles has faint stamped company markings on underside of feet, which J.B. Woodard name can be discerned. Dolls both have even moderate aging w/some scattered moisture staining to faces and hands (Don has some staining to feet as well). VG overall, but still a nice standing pair for display. Rare and first we've seen of these Aesop's Fables dolls in our 50 years.
