Item Description
7" long. Listed in Sullivan/Fischer as JP-7(a). Design features a large eagle w/banner in its beak reading "Union Harmony And Vigilance" and a scroll w/the beginning of the US constitution in it's talons.  Above eagle is a star and "Texas". At center a portrait of Thomas Jefferson framed by stars and flanked by flags w/a ribbon above and below containing the names and offices of candidates Polk and Dallas. Completing this outstanding design is the names of past presidents Jackson and Van Buren at base. Light edge toning along right side and at lower left corner. Pair of pin holes and a .25" vertical pull in top margin. Otherwise only light age toning consistent w/minor use. VF. A striking example of a rare ribbon for the notoriously difficult 1844 Democratic ticket.
