Item Description
30x37.5" framed w/20x27.5" opening. Canton w/36 stars and block-printed text in field. Scattered insect holes most notable on the fly end and two thin 5" long horizontal separations above "Colfax" just along the bottom edge of the red stripe. Otherwise only minor fading and discoloration as is to be expect w/material of this age. Fine. Professionally cleaned and stabilized by a professional textile conservator and beautifully custom framed to museum standards. A handsome example of a rare and imposing parade flag from the 1868 campaign. Flags are among the most sought after artifacts by collectors of the material culture of political campaigns and the present example is beautiful one that will make an excellent addition to even the most advanced collections.
