Item Description
10.5x14.75" w/78 pages (including cardboard covers) in color. By R.F. Outcault and published by Grand Union Tea Company, ©1902. Earliest known Cupples & Leon Co. comic book. Pages are printed on front side and feature Sunday page reprints dealing w/humorous adventures (although many are politically incorrect by today's standards) of Lil Mose and his animal friends including various escapades in New York City.. Book is missing introduction page but is o/w complete. Book has been professionally restored and rebound w/cloth spine and comes w/custom hinged lid clothbound case (which is Exc.). Covers have handling wear w/corner creases (w/repairs and color touch-ups) and dust soiling. Front cover has a few small spots of moisture staining and .5" puncture to image of letter. Back cover has obvious corner foxing w/2x3.75" area of moisture staining at lower right. VG/Fine. Interior pages have corner foxing and some scattered spots of staining and handling wear. Fine to VF overall. The Overstreet price for this book in Good condition is $1,500, in Fine condition (the highest listed condition) is $4,500. Scarce in complete condition as often copies were cut apart for the purpose of selling individual pages. Highly desirable Platinum Age Sunday page reprint book.
