Item Description

Original 11x14" lobby card for The Three Stooges' 59th short film for Columbia, 1941's "Some More Of Somoa." The story deals with The Stooges as  tree surgeons who are enlisted by a rich old man to find a mate for his rare tree. The Stooges sail to a fictional tropical island to find the tree. When they arrive they are captured by the natives and will be eaten unless Curly marries the Chief's ugly sister. The Stooges manage to escape w/the tree after a confrontation w/an alligator. Lobby card features all Three Stooges, showing Curly w/saw, as if about to saw off the old man's leg as his nurse (who wears roller skates) looks on in alarm. Moe stands behind old man w/raised axe and Larry holds up a pair of gardening shears. Card is evenly aged and has  7/8" sliver off upper left corner and .25" sliver off bottom right. Bottom right corner has 2.5x4.5" triangular area of faint moisture staining. Pinholes at corner and along margins, w/two intruding slightly into image area, but not on anyone in image. Some scattered margin wear w/small spot of moisture at upper right (which has corner crease). VG/Fine overall. A desirable Stooges lobby card as all original material from this short is rare. Wonderfully humorous image.
