Item Description
The blotters consist of a single paper sheet on the back with a celluloid cover on the front. One is 6-3/8" and the other is 7.75" wide. The first with Santa and sleeping girl is from a Boston firm. The second is from Trenton Trust and this has a small celluloid clip depicting close-up Santa portrait. Reverse has a pair of brass ears, which are spread to hold the cello cover and blotter sheets together. Also in the lot is a gorgeous color 5/8" Santa cello we've never seen before. Reverse is brass with a pair of ears so it was likely used in conjunction with a blotter. Great color portrait of him against deep blue sky with white stars. These three pieces are c. 1920s or earlier. Next is a 1.5" celluloid encased cloth tape measure from a bank in Massachusetts. Last is 2.25" dime bank with celluloid front and back. Front shows manger scene and reverse has extensive text about Christmas and "Save Your Dimes And Give Them To Your Church As A Christmas Gift That His Name Be Glorified." Side edge is tin with a slot to receive dimes. All items are Exc. to Mint. The bank is c. 1930.
