Item Description
First is 7/8" and second is 1.25" both with W&H back papers. The first reads "Forever/America First/United Sons Of America." On Uncle Sam's top hat are the letters "U.S." Only example we've seen and likely issued at the time of the 1916 election when "America First" along with 'Preparedness' were in wide use because of the war in Europe. Second button shows children, three boys and a girl, all in military outfits marching with Uncle Sam who beats a drum. Button was likely produced for July 4th celebration but is possibly a salesman's sample as it does not carry any text. The back paper on this one was in use only 1900-1912. Both of these are the only examples seen in our 50 years. From Collectible Pin-Back Buttons color plate pages #152-153. Comes with Hake's COA.
