Item Description
This is a group of four exceptionally nice items. First is a 6.5" tall carved bone letter opener with circular end and a viewing hole. The scene begins with text at the top "Chicago 1893" and below this is a rectangular photo captioned "Birds Eye View Of The World's Columbian Exhibition At Chicago." Beneath this are four smaller photos of buildings each with an identifying caption and including "Art Palace, Horticultural Building, U.S. Government Building, Agricultural Building." Quite unusual with a total of five different images. Next is beautiful 2" highly detailed bronze medal with one side depicting many figures plus ship in background captioned "Landing Of Columbus 1492." Opposite side shows "Administration Building" with rim text "World's Columbian Exposition Chicago 1893." Essentially Mint. Third item is an enamel on brass pin. While the catch to hold the pinpoint is missing the bar pin remains in place. Front reads "Chicago 1893/Remember." Some very small pieces of enameling missing but still an exceptionally nice piece with five enamel colors. Last, and our favorite, is 1-5/16" silvered brass shell rim reading "World's Columbian Exposition, Chicago, 1893." The side rim edge is about 3/16" deep and reverse has a brass bar pin. At the center is a very high relief semi circular sphere of brass designed as the world globe and picturing the North and South American continents. This globe swivels slightly to the left and right. Unusual and Exc.  Nice group with rarities.
