Item Description
Large 2-1/8" button, one of three different designs, all issued c. 1900 and used by those at a shriner's fraternal convention in Troy, N.Y. Scene shows a lodge initiate standing in his black socks, pantless, wearing one of the company's shirts as he grasps a rope. He wears a blindfold and his hair is standing on end as he awaits the initiation ritual. A superbly colored button with bright gold accents on the camel's blanket, reins and saddle. Reverse back paper has large company trade mark with text "Shirt Collars And Cuffs-Nobel Goods For 'Noble's' Wear." Paper also specifies W&H as the maker. A superb example with intense color, high gloss and almost no surface wear. Among the very best of the early product advertising pin-back buttons.
