Lot consists of envelope and letter. 4x9.5" postally used envelope with Captain Midnight image and name in upper left corner. Postally cancelled June 7/57. Back of envelope reads "We Of The Secret Squadron Drink Ovaltine Every Day!" Envelope contains 8.5x11" typed letter on "Captain Midnight" letterhead. Letter reads "Dear Friend: Thank You Very Much For Writing To Me About Becoming A Flight Commander Of The 1957 Secret Squadron/Secret Squadron Work Will Still Go On Even Though The Captain Midnight Show Is Off For The Summer, But We Are No Longer Accepting Requests For New Memberships In The 1957 Secret Squadron. I Am Therefore Returning Your Application Just As You Sent It To Me/I Hope That You Will Be Watching When We Can Go Back On Television Next October, And That You Will Want To Join The New 1958 Secret Squadron When It Is Announced. Please Be Patient Until Then/Your Friend (stamped signature) Captain Midnight." Minimal handling creases. Most interesting. VF. First we've seen.
