Item Description
6x10.25" thick cardboard w/fabric rose attached as made. Bottom right corner reads "Gorman Novelty Co." w/Philadelphia address. The word "Next" has been lightly crossed out and below is a hand inscription reading "Defeated Through Bigotry" a reference to the focus on Smith's Catholic faith during the campaign. Bottom left corner has slight bend that is less than .5" tall and 2" long that has resulted in a hairline surface paper break. Otherwise only minor handling wear. Extremely Fine. Only the second example we have encountered and made all the most historic w/the powerful inscription. Leon Rowe Collection.
