New Haven Watch Co. .75x2.5x3" box has text "Popeye Watch/Copyright King Features Syndicate, Inc." Insert reads "Popeye Watch/Nickle Finish." Beneath insert is original padding. Box bottom has three corner splits. Lid has neat glue repair to each corner, scattered edge wear and aging. Box VG. 1-7/8" dia. pocket watch has colorful and detailed dial picturing many characters from the strip alternating with designs of yellow triangles which surround the numerals. Popeye's die-cut arms with bold anchor designs and hands with pointing fingers tell the time while below his spread legs is a second wheel showing full figure of Wimpy chasing a hamburger accented by a tiny pair of wings as if it is flying from his grasp. The bezel has lost most of the nickle plating. Loop above the winding stem, outer edge and back of the case have their nickle plating remaining. Light wear to back of case. Dial has moderate amount of scattered pinpoint age dots. There are also some minor hairline scratches. Works. Fine. Only the fourth example of watch we've handled.
