Item Description
5" tall (7.75" tall to top of raised handle) tin litho, the largest of four sizes produced by Ohio Art, © WDP. 1940s. Pail features wonderful wraparound scene showing Donald Duck and his nephews at the beach. Pails feature scenes of Donald being attacked by birds while in raft, playing tug-of-war w/nephews and this scene, showing Donald flexing on beach blanket while nephews play w/inflatable sea horse toy (another version was produced showing sea horse by itself). Some scattered rim wear and aging, exterior has a few scattered paint nicks/scratches. Thin streak of discoloration below Ohio Art name at bottom. Fine overall. Rare and first we've seen in our 50 years. This is the actual example shown in Doug & Pat Wengel's book "Comic Character Metal Sand Toys."
