Item Description
5.5x7.25x7.25" tall nicely designed high quality radio, 1930s. This style radio by Emerson came in two different colors, black and cream, this being the latter. Painted green accents on sides and front edge. Triangular aluminum pieces attached at front corners, each w/different character image including Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow. Bottom center has triangular attachment that reads "Emerson Radio And Television" along w/Walt Disney copyright. The images as well as the text on these attachments are much clearer than typically seen. Die-cut aluminum grill plate depicts Mickey Mouse playing upright bass over the fabric speaker cover. Serial number plate still attached to back of radio. Radio works well, tubes are complete and radio has original coiled antenna wire. Original fabric-covered electric cord has some fraying by plug. Speaker cloth has had repair and color touch-up at right center. Missing rubber covering on feet on the underside. The two plastic knobs are original, each w/typical tiny interior hairline. Body has scattered paint wear but radio remains structurally sound and still displays Fine/VF. These radios are scarce and were quite expensive in their day for a child's radio. Scarcer color variety.
