Item Description
This club was started by Paramount in the mid 1930s and was modeled very closely on the popular Mickey Mouse clubs of the early 1930s. Included are one of the several varieties of member cards, this one is for Central Park Theatre Popeye Club and measures 2.5x3.5". Card shows small full figure image of Popeye and has been neatly filled out in ink by member and signed by club director. Card shows moderate handling wear w/creases and some scattered dust soiling. VG. Comes w/3-7/8x8.5" die-cut stiff paper door hanger advertising the club at a sponsor theater. Great image of Popeye in fighting pose. Hanger was originally on green paper, which has faded to brown. Some handling creases by die-cut hole for doorknob. Fine overall. Rare and first we've seen in our 50 years.
