Item Description
In 1969 Aurora introduced the "Frightening Lightning" series of model kits. This was quickly revamped/repackaged later that same year as "Glow In The Dark" kits in totally different boxes. These "first issue" versions look the same as the later 1972 issues (see following item #2075), but have distinct differences. First, the boxes have a 1969 copyright as opposed to 1972. They are also on thicker cardboard more like the 1960s Aurora boxes than what followed in the 1970s. These 1969 versions are much rarer than the 1972 kits. 8.25x8.25x3.25" deep box contains model No. 454. ©1969 Universal Pictures. Box lid has some scattered edge/corner tip wear w/some moisture rippling at top right corner. Box is o/w VF. Model kit comes w/instructions which have some scattered aging and are Fine. Model has some pieces still attached to sprues. Missing tiny ring and glow-in-the-dark spider is missing one leg. Contents are o/w Exc. to NM as packaged.
