Item Description
9x12" program. In March of 1949, Joe Louis decide to retire and give up his heavyweight championship. Ezzard Charles won the title in June of that year by defeating "Jersey" Joe Walcott. Louis decided to make a comeback near the end of 1949, thus setting up the bout with Charles. The fight went the distance, but in a unanimous decision Charles defeated Louis and handed him his second loss of his professional career. Program was folded and has scattered wear but not scored. VG/Fine. Lot also includes two ticket stubs for the bout. Exc.
