Item Description
See previous item #1859. This is 1958 issue Funtime Playwear Superman Play Suit. Box has corner tip wear w/some creases and scattered dust soiling/aging and wear. Glue repair at corners (one to lid and two to bottom). Box is Fine overall. Size 6 playsuit consists of three pieces of cotton fabric in red/blue. Shirt is complete w/all four original plastic buttons on back w/silk-screened "S" chest emblem showing just trace wear as folded. Cape has large silk-screened "Superman" name and full body image. Comes w/thin vinyl belt w/metal buckle. This shows wear as stored and is Fine overall. Outfit is o/w Exc. Complete w/8.5x11" certificate for the "Supermen Of America" club and 2.5x3-7/8" membership card for "Official Superman Fan Club." Both are unique to this set and have been neatly filled out in ink on lines provided (w/matching name) and certificate has some handling wear w/some edge crease but Fine/VF overall. Membership card is Exc. Also comes w/7x9.5" four-page "Superman's Buddy" comic book. This 1958 NCP comic had been previously issued in 1954 in full color, this later edition in just blue and white. Comic has some handling wear w/faint vertical crease at center but is Fine/VF overall. Scarce as complete w/all papers. Franco Toscanini Collection.
