Item Description
This 8x10" card stock picture is from a 1938 set of five (see items #2313-2316). Not only were these issued prior the the 1940 Gum Inc. card set (see items #2317-2319), they feature art that was not reproduced on any of those cards. ACC #R83-2. These were issued by sending in Lone Ranger gum wrappers. Available in different configurations, from individually for five wrappers and 3¢, up to a complete set of five for 25 wrappers and 10¢. These were issued with two back varieties, either blank or with text detailing the series. This is text back. Title is "Tonto Saves The Lone Ranger" and it is #1 in the set. This is also the rarely seen first version in which the Lone Ranger is shown without his trademark mask. This is the first we've offered this variety in our 50 years. Top right corner has a .5" tear and crease. Other lt. corner tip wear. Back has 1" area w/lt. surface paper rubs at lower right corner. Still has a very clean appr. and w/deep, rich color. VG.
