Item Description
7x9" cardboard sign for cards issued in 1949 by Comic Stars Inc. Cards in this series feature a variety of comic characters including Buck Rogers, Superman, Batman & Robin, Alley Oop and more w/choice art fronts and blank backs. Cards were issued in both cardboard sleeves and (as advertised on this sign) in cello packs, 10¢ for 12 cards. Other text on sign includes "All Popular Characters From Your Favorite Comic Strips And Funny Papers!" and tiny text at bottom "Insert In Back Of Box Or Scotch Tape To Window." Two example cards mounted on sign are Al Capp characters "Hairless Joe, Susie Shmoo." Sign has wear on lower third w/some moisture staining, tape at left corner and tip off right. Few creases. Fine. Comes w/seven cards, each is 2.25x3.5". All are "Shmoo" characters: Susie, Mailman, Hugh, Sweet, Cutie, Cookie, Lou. Two have staining to backs. All fronts are bright and clean and display NM.
