Item Description
4.5x8.5x2.5" box contains 6" tall figural white plastic relief clock w/hollow back and numbers on stomach. BPMP ©UFS Lux Clock Corp. of Waterbury, CT. c. 1948. Box features Al Capp's "Li'l Abner" characters including male and female Shmoos as well as Shmoo clock image. Box lid has three die-cut slots for placing included insert which was used to display clock. Insert measures 7-7/8x9.75" and features images of Li'l Abner, Daisy Mae, Mammy and Pappy Yokum, Unwashable Jones w/two Shmoo, Indian Princess Minnie Mustache, Hairless Joe and Lonesome Polecat. Insert could be inserted into top of box and has metal hook to hang clock for display. Box comes w/plain cardboard insert and original tiny envelope containing key and hanger nail. Box shows obvious wear and is VG overall. Insert has some aging and is Fine/VF. Clock has lightest trace of aging and some minor surface oxidation to pendulum stem and screw. Clock is wound tight, but pendulum moves freely and clock ticks and would most likely wind down if hung up and pendulum started. VF/Exc. See following items #1205-1207. Barry Lutsky Collection.
