Item Description
The Calgary Stampede is an annual rodeo, exhibition and festival held every July in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The event's roots are traced to 1886 when the Calgary and District Agricultural Society held its first fair. In 1912, American promoter Guy Weadick organized his first rodeo and festival, known as the Stampede. Weadick's festival became an annual event in 1923 when it merged w/the Calgary Industrial Exhibition to create the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede. Offered here are six different high quality enameled pins issued 1944-1957. These pins were produced in very limited quantities and were issued to those working the event, including the press. Examples here include "Assoc. Director" (1944 and 1947), "Radio" (1954) and "Official" (1956). Remaining two are for 1956 and 1957, but w/o listed positions. Great Western designs. All are Exc. Snuff Garrett Collection.
