Item Description
Lot of 19, all from the 1938 Whitman Penny Book Series (see following items #1229-1230). Characters include - Smilin' Jack, Alley Oop, Freckles, Smokey Stover, Terry and the Pirates, Don Winslow and Little Orphan Annie. Lot includes both front and back cover variants, including premium issues. Lot titles include -
"Smilin' Jack" (red/blue back variants listing titles in series and red back w/"Penney's" imprint)
"Alley Oop" (blue blank back and listing titles variants as well as front cover variant showing Dinny in mostly green instead of yellow)
"Freckles And His Friends" ("Penney's" imprint on back)
"Smokey Stover" (red/blue back variants listing titles in series, blank blue back w/titles listed inside front cover)
"Terry And The Pirates On Their Travels" (blank blue back w/titles inside front cover, blue back w/titles listed)
