Item Description
30x40x1.5" thick solid two-dimensional carved and painted wood carousel figure of Pluto. The figure is mounted to larger sized 1" thick painted wooden piece. Unmarked but made by the French carousel maker Henri Der Vos in the 1940s. This famous French company made carousels from the 1930s through the 1950s and were known to use Disney characters. This figure was used as the outside facing ornamentation for a bench children sat on. Any of these carved Disney figures are rare w/less than 10 total of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck known and this is first we've seen of Pluto in our 50 years. Piece has original paint and shows moderate scattered wear from use. VG overall, but would make for a great display as easily wall mounted thanks to main mounting holes used to secure item to carousel bench.
