Item Description
9x11x3" deep window box w/stamped label area reads - "Litterbug." ©1960 Pennsylvania Resources Council. The LitterBug mascot was created in the early 1950s by Pennsylvania housewife Hilda Vogel Fox and was loaned to the anti-litter organization Keep America Beautiful, who used the character into the 1960s, even producing a figural display for the Pennsylvania Resources Council. Box lid has cellophane window intact w/some rippling and scattered aging. Lid has crease to one side edge and lt. corner tip wear. Box is VF overall. Contained within is size small (4-6), rayon costume. Chest has bee stripes w/sparkle accents and central text reading "Don't Be A LitterBug" w/small P.R.C. copyright below. Costume is unworn w/original tag intact. Fabric has some scattered aging (in relation to the bee stripes) but costume is o/w VF/Exc. Thin, vacuform plastic mask is NM w/no cracks/dents and has original string in place. Old store stock. A very obscure costume only made one season. Rare and first we've offered in our 50 years.
