Item Description
6x8" on glossy photo paper. Reverse has stamp "Ref. Dept. Feb 12, 1935 N.E.A." and paper affixed w/caption reading "Huey Long Begins Presidential Campaign. That Senator Huey P. Long's Followers Fully Expect Him To Be A Candidate For President In 1936 Is Shown By This Photograph. All Over Louisiana Tire Covers Like The Above Are Appearing. It Is Believed A Big Shipment Of These Tire Covers Is Being Sent To Other States. 2/8/35." A less than .5" tear along top edge at left that is contained to the margin. Otherwise only light handling wear in reflected light. Extremely Fine. Despite what the caption says we have never encountered a surviving example of a tire cover for any of Long's campaigns. A fascinating window into the early moments of the 1936 presidential campaign.
