Item Description
1-7/8" dia. case watch w/o maker's name though manufactured exclusively for The Brown Shoe Co. w/tiny "Made In U.S.A." text at bottom of dial. Likely c. 1905-1910 and the most likely first timepiece to feature a comic character. Dial features "Buster Brown Shoes" name w/small color images of Buster Brown and Tige shown waving w/company "5" star trademark below. The red of Buster's coat and trademark bkg. have faded to lt. pink but o/w dial is exceptionally clean, covered w/original glass crystal w/thin beveled edge. Case was originally silvered but about 90% of silvering wore off so case is largely brass tone. Blank case back shows wear w/some denting. Case is VG/Fine. Running. Rare.
