Item Description
Two hardcovers measuring 8x10” titled “The 30th Log – A Battalion Biography” published by Robert W. Kelly for the 30th US Navy Construction Battalion. c. 1944-1945. Rear of each volume has section with pages featuring specialty drawings by noted cartoonists. Second volume has Superman co-creator Joe Shuster 3-panel comic strip with Superman attempting to help Seabees. At lower right-hand corner is a photo of Shuster inking a Superman Sunday page. Other noted artists who contributed include: Milton Caniff, Marge, Daniel Fitzpatrick and Al Capp. Volume 1 has spine date of June, 1944 and Volume 2 has 1944/1945 date. Both books are high-quality publications with very limited distribution. Print run of likely 1,000 or less. Each are Exc. A unique Superman collectible.
