Item Description
Offered here is large set of figures and accessories made in England by Talfourd Toys, 1920s. Lot includes 9.5x11.75x3-1/8" tall painted wooden tray w/jigsawed sides designed to look like English garden, table, two styles of chairs and bench along w/tea party setting that includes four wooden saucers, teacups, lidded sugar bowl and lidded teapot. Set also includes 26 painted jigsawed figures, ranging from .75" to 4.5" tall. All but three have jointed arms/legs. These include - Alice, Cheshire Cat, Humpty Dumpty, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, two different versions of the White Rabbit, March Hare and Mad Hatter, the Gryphon, Bill the Lizard, Mock Turtle, The Walrus and The Carpenter along w/three Baby Oysters, Dormouse (w/tail), the Dodo, Fish and Frog Footman, King of Hearts, Queen of Hearts, Knave of Hearts, White Queen and King, Duchess and Alice's cat. Figures show lt. aging and wear and are VF to Exc. overall. Some tea party pieces show some wear and are Fine overall. Rare and well designed English toys created for Lewis Carroll's beloved stories.
