Item Description
This 1.25" button is unique as far as we know and this is the button pictured as SUP-56 on page 971 of "Hake's Pop Culture Memorabilia" book from 2008. The Supermen Of America club button was issued in 1940 and what distinguishes this from the standard button is the total absence of blue color. The button pictures him in a white shirt with a red letter "S" outlined in yellow on a black background. The existence of this and the few following rare varieties is documented back to Hake auctions of the 1970s and it is assumed they were produced for test or proofing purposes. There is one near pinpoint and exceedingly faint gray dot above his left hand but o/w high gloss and Exc. displaying NM. Probably unique.
