Item Description

Fischer and Company in Nuremberg, Germany. c. 1925. Character tin automobile is marked "Copyright Louis G. Ferstadt," a reference to a Russian-born artist whose had a brief early career as a toy designer and later became a comic book artist, working on Plastic Man, The Human Bomb and The Bouncer. Jalopy style car has printed "Skidoodle" name on sides and back as well as sayings on exterior, some of which include - Don't Rush Me!" and "Watch Our Duzt" as well as "Nifty" name. Dimensional tin litho passengers are formed in single unit but depict three people. This piece is attached to metal rod at bottom and piece is attached to wire that works in conjunction w/axle movement, causing passengers to buck back and forth. When wound, car travels in circles. Toy has noise-making wood bellow inside to simulate horn, and this moves, but no longer works. All other functions work. Car has all over darkening w/age and scattered dust soiling. Some scattered paint wear to wheels and rest of toy. Fine/VF overall. Rare.
