Item Description
5.25x7.5” hardcover book by Shrewesbury Publishing Co. ©1926 The Chicago Tribune. Book was written by Charles Correll and Freeman Fisher Gosden, who pioneered the situational comedy with their 1926 radio show “Sam ‘N’ Henry,” which dealt with two black men who had recently joined a black migration from the deep south to Chicago. Later on in 1926, the show moved to station WMAQ and became “Amos ‘N’ Andy.” Book has several bw illustrations throughout and dust jacket features illustration of Correll and Gosden in blackface. Book itself has some light wear and aging and is VF/Exc. Dust jacket has obvious wear with tears, color rubs and chips. Good/VG. Rare and unlisted in Hake’s guide.
