Item Description
4.25x6" glazed cotton on 5.25" remnant of wooden pole. The nineteen stars are arranged in five horizontal rows of 4-4-4-4-3. Indiana was the 19th state admitted to the union in 1816. This flag was likely produced around the 1876 American Centennial celebration. This state specific textile likely had limited distribution only in Indiana. Otherwise faint staining at fly end and some minor fraying around edges. Fine. Period 19 star flags are extremely rare making this example an attractive option for the Hoosier patriot and centennial collector.
