Item Description
Large and impressive 17" tall (wearing separate hat) doll w/wooden body w/articulated wooden arms and legs, molded hard plastic head w/felt hair and googly eyes. Made in Italy by famous doll maker Lenci. 1950s. No Disney markings but doll is dressed in the style of the 1940 movie, not in the style of the traditional original Italian fable. Doll has "Lenci - Torino" sewn cloth tag under flared felt collar. Doll is dressed in high quality wool felt complete w/hat w/original feather. Shoes are felt w/snap fasteners and hands are stuffed felt. One hand holds painted composition apple while other holds felt book strap carrying a cloth-covered wooden "ABC" book. Some scattered surface wear to face around nose and lt. even aging to felt. Apple has surface crazing. VF overall. Does not stand independently due to articulated legs. Most likely only sold in Italy in limited quantities as this is first we've seen of this superb doll in our 50 years.
