Newsprint ad published the day of Kennedy's assassination in the Dallas Morning News. The idea for the ad came from John Birch Society member Joseph P. Grinnan. Grinnan suggested that he and two right wing friends, Laurie Schmidt and Bernard Weissman, should place an advertisement in the Dallas Morning News on Nov. 22, 1963. The $1,465 cost was funded by John Birch Society member Joseph P. Grinnan and Weissman was listed as Chairman of the American Fact Finding Committee The ad attacks JFK's foreign policy as communist and anti-American. This includes the claim that Gus Hall, "Head Of The U.S. Communist Party Praised Almost Every One Of Your Polices And Announced That The Party Will Endorse And Support Your Re-Election in 1964." Another passage asks why "Robert Kennedy" has been allowed "To Go Soft On Communists, Fellow-Travelers, And Ultra-Leftists In America." Weissman was shocked when JFK was assassinated that day and was terrified the ad would lead to accusations that he was responsible. The Warren Commission investigated the group and the genesis of the ad but found no connection to Lee Harvey Oswald.
