Item Description
17x24" Home Edition of Chicago Daily Tribune, "The World's Greatest Newspaper" for Wednesday, November 3, 1948. Large page 1 headline "Dewey Defeats Truman" is followed by sub-heads "Puts G.O.P. Back In The White House" and "Sizeable Electoral Margin Seen." An opening statement of news report by Arthur Sears Henning Is "Dewey And Warren Won A Sweeping Victory In The Presidential Election Yesterday." Remainder of front page is devoted to presidential as well as state and local election bulletins and results. The incredible error on a national election actually won by Truman is credited by many as the most famous single newspaper edition of the 20th century. Offered is the complete first section of the paper not including additional sections. Edge tears and minor losses along left folded edge and across center fold. Otherwise typical light tanning of paper. Overall VG. Scarce and historic.
