Item Description
5-3/8" tall by 4.5" wide black finished cast iron desk plaque w/flared base. As in most countries even today, events were held to determine which athletes would attend the next year's Summer Olympics. This desk ornament relates to German pre-Olympics activities in 1935. The raised German text translates to "In The Year Of Olympic Preparation" w/"1935" date and features image of nude male athlete on front, holding Olympic banner imposed over Nazi Germany swastika. Reverse image features Third Reich heraldic eagle perched atop the Olympic rings. Exc.
